Hi,
Im looking to get an icecap sump , my tank is 4ft , 70 gal (270 litre).
My skimmer is rated to 105 gal (400 litres)
Looking at the ice cap recomendations it stats tank size for the 24 version
https://www.marinedepot.com/IceCap_...um_Sump_Units-IceCap-CV40836-FIFRBSCU-vi.html
is
Min 60 Gallons,
Optimal 80 Gallons,
Max 110 Gallons.

The next one up is the 30 https://www.marinedepot.com/IceCap_...um_Sump_Units-IceCap-CV40843-FIFRBSCU-vi.html
Min 90 Gallons
Optimal 125 Gallons
Max 160 Gallons.
In the future i want to get a 5ft and want to keep the same sump, probally replace skimmer.
Would getting the bigger sump not work for the 4ft for now?
Thanks
Mark

I have the 30” under a 40 breeder. When it comes to dumps I think bigger is better. More room for future equipment, more room to hold water when the puma go off, and more water volume is always a good thing. The other benefit to the 30” is the ATO is 5 gallons. Just remember that only ice cap brand filter socks will fit this sump.

Ok great thanks , i was hoping to get the 30 , i have a 2ft empty tank under the my 4 ft at the moment and its roughly the size of the 24 , looks a bit uncomfortable and small
Thanks to work with to work with .
I am in Australia , so the socks are a bit hard to source , but ill get the store im ordering from to get them for me hopefully.
Did yours come with any socks?
Also i was going to use 1 over flow pipe until i get my 5ft (a while off) would i just run it into one input pipe on the sump , or "T" it into 2 ?
Thanks
Mark

My sump came with 2 socks and running 1 drain to the sump will work fine.
