I dont see how turning off the lights early will effect the ich on your fish. Fish generally like consistancy, so if your going for "less stress" as a technique to battle the ich you should leave the lights on a timer and let them cycle as normal. You might consider taking the fish out and treating with copper or chloroquine phosphate (not sure on spelling there). Otherwise he will be battling ich for a very very long time and may not even survive long enough for the second very.

I re-read that and decided this sounded kinda harsh. I'm sorry for that. Please dont take it that way :)

+1 on taking the fish out and into QT. My Gramma started to flash a lot and thinking it was Flukes I treated the DT with Prazipro. After the second treatment with no change and at that point he wasn't eating and starting to breath heavy I moved him to the QT and started the copper treatment. The first day I put him in I really thought he was done for, he was breathing hard laying in the corner of the tank and trying to keep himself upright. Within two days of the treatment he was eating and swimming normal again, a night and day difference. The DT is going fallow right now and the Gramma and my Fire fish are waiting in a holding tank until they can go back into the DT.
