Ich and Hyposalinity treatment

Unfortunately I believe my fish have ICH. Its a reef tank with fairly hardy coral, I was going to do a QT tank and put the fish in there for 2 1/2 months but I dont have one that is cycled, it would be a brand new QT. I called my local reef store and he told me do the hyposalinity treatment ( Lower salinity to 1.020) and it would be safe for the coral. Does that seem right? Ive seen people say it has to be 1.009 salinity to work, but the coral wouldnt survive that would they? What options do I have here? Thanks in advance.
 
1.009-1.011 is typical hypo salinity and not safe for coral , not even the 1.020.
I recommend tank transfer method or copper safe method
 
What is the copper safe method? Is that a medicine without copper you dose the display tank?
