I quarantine all my fish using TTM. I understand that this is for in case the fish have possible ich on them.

I was wondering for fish that do have confirmed ich, can we just use TTM to treat it instead of using copper? Or is their immune system already too compromised that the ich will kill it before TTM can be effective?

Thanks!

Yes it can be used as a treatment for ICH ONLY

The science behind this is...@Humblefish

While using TTM you out pace ich and its life cycle.

Once the eggs hatch (incorrect science name) while using TTM there is not enough time to start the cycle again.

Thanks @MERKEY.

Just wanted to confirm, because e everytime I see a post about ich confirmation, everyone just says start copper. I'd much rather do TTM than copper, as it is a lot less stress on the fish and you don't ruin equipment from the copper. Slightly more work, but making sure copper is always at therapeutic levels can be hard as well. Test kits can be inaccurate.

I totally get it and that screen shot is from Humblefishs research. I have followed all of his QT process and where I get all my research....

Well and the other great members here!

I’ve started doing a modified version of ttm where I’m dripping water from my system into a bucket with the fish constantly and dumping it when it get full like 3x per day. I switch buckets and clean them every day or two after I feed. I know this can introduce parasites from my system into the process, but the fish is going in there anyway, and I am drawing water from my frag tank that has always been fishless, so a little less likely there would be any viable parasites hanging out in there anyway compared to my display.
Seems to work decently well so far. I definitely took one fish with ich through this process for 4 weeks and it seems heathy from what I can tell. “Proof” will be in the pudding once I release it from the bucket.
It is easier for me than dealing with extra freakin heaters and air pumps and air stones and sterilizing them all. His way I just clean out buckets every day or two. I have setup my auto top off Rez with slightly less salty salt water and keep an eye on the system SG.

Yes, ttm is a full treatment for ich.

I don't use it because it doesnt treat anything else and for some fish I feel it is more stressful than CP.

But it does cure ich.
