Ich, copper and sterile holding tank?

Ok so if you remove fish from a DT to treat for ich (copper or Chloroq P. (cp)) why cant I use the same tank for the holding tank for the duration of the fallow period for the DT? Or is it easier to just treat in the display if no coral using CP? I know the copper will kill the inverts but will the Chloroq P? sorry for so many questions. @Flippers4pups @HotRocks i have a frag tank to move the coral frags into.

i have a 24 x 24 x 16 high tank and two biocube 29's one is empty with nothing but red ogo floating around waiting to be used in the DT.

You can use the same tank to hold the fish during the full fallow period. At the end of 30 days of copper treatment, do 100% water change and then add metasorb or cuprisorb to get the residual copper out.

CP would be difficult to maintain the therapeutic dose in your display with rocks and sand etc and there’s no cheap way of testing.

Inverts wouldn’t do well in CP either.

Here are some fish pics. The scribble tail is a dangler which I’m assuming is lymphocystis. Only one of the White specs on the flame is true the other is water debris, the cardinal has a spec on his tail. All fish did Q. But I did recently add some Pom Pom crabs and snails. Didn’t add the water they came in to the display but I did use an acclimator drip and there was probably water on my hands from the bag when I added the crab and snails.

Don't treat in DT, it isn't worth the added aggravation and it's difficult to maintain proper levels. CP would be even more difficult since you cannot test and we know it's degraded by many factors, just unsure of exactly how much.

The switching tanks in QT is for treating in 14 days (limiting exposure to copper or CP) but 30 days in the same tank fully therapeutic is tried and true

thanks that is the direction i went. i have a separate tank for the tangs in CP and the others in their own tank with CP. and fallow the DT. I guess i have to QT inverts in the future bc i dont know where else this came from, new tank started from scratch all fish have been QT'd and have been in there since April. In the two weeks prior to this i added a few crabs and snails. live and learn but very disheartening.

I’ve introduced parasites on inverts, rock, coral, and macro. I just let them run “fallow” prior to addition. Especially things from LFS are going to be infested (due to the sheer number of fish moving in and out of their often shared systems)

Quick question. So it’s been about month. The plan was to let the main tank go fallow for 90 days or at least longer than 72 days. After siphoning our most if not all of the sand and replacing after the tank sat there for 3 weeks and redoing most of the scape. No feeding or lights on during all of that time. The tank is not put back together lights one etc. and out of no where a little 1 inch yellow rose faced goby reappeared. Bought him 6 months ago and haven’t seen him in over 4 months. No way I can get him out. Not even sure how he is still alive in there. But I guess I’m no longer fallow and ich could be alive in the tank since this little magician is still in there?

Try your best to capture him, use a fish trap. After a couple days of not feeding him he will likely come out for a baited trap.

This is right, unfortunately. I’ve had this happen before. In my case if was a tiny goby in the sump and I found it after I added all the fish back and they all became reinfected with velvet.

My big worry recently was if any baby bangaii were in my sump somewhere. I looked hard, but they are so small. Am nearly 100% confident now that there weren't any, but shows it isn't hard to overlook a fish somewhere in the system.
