Hi all,

I just discovered white spots on my hippo tang out of nowhere. Can you help me identify them??

I just removed him from the display tank and am in the process of doing a huge water change to try to prevent my other fish from getting it. Although I am sure they are doomed.

Any words of advice as this is my first sale tank and certainly never seen or felt with ich before.

Water changes won't remove Ich. The parasites will keep multiplying.
Here's a thread on Ich that can help you to decide what path to follow for your fish.
Please ask away; we are here to help each other!

Can you get us a closer pic without the blue lights on? There are other things that can cause the white spots.

hi Big G. Thanks for your reply. Currently he is in a bucket with an air line. Hard to take a picture but I tried.

To treat marine Ich:

Do a freshwater dip. The dip removes many of the parasites.

Then a 60-90 minute bath in an acriflavine product like Ruby Reef Rally.

Then into the quarantine tank with either copper or CP or TTM or hyposalinity

Here's a complete thread on the parasite, life cycle, and treatments:
