So I've been reading up on marine ich, and I read that ich attach to fish only at dark, so wouldn't a 3 day cycle of full on light force the tomites to not jump onto the fish, and thus within a couple days kill the ich in its larval stage?

Apply quinine sulfate in a QT for 10 days before going into display tank and your fish will be ich free.

What's an ich magnet and where do I get one?

This is an ich magnet unfortunately...

Cheesus, I wouldn't put that fish in a 55. The ich magnet will likely turn your tank into an ich factory once it gets some size to it.

The best thing to fight ich is feeding your fish and keeping then healthy they will fight it on their own
I agree I have tried everything possible in the past. Most treatments just caused everything else to get stressed and kill off coral. The last time I had a ich outbreak I just feed them with food soaked in garlic 4-5 times a day. I did loose the fish that showed signs of ich first but everything else survived.

Ok I have 4 tangs on my 185 and one of them being a white cheeks tang which is label just like the powder blue about ich. The others are a regal, yellow and sailfin and yes they do get ich every now and then but they fight it off. The way I kept the white cheeks from dying was I would spot feed mysid until he ate
I believe is all about feeding.

I thought that would leave the ich in your tank?

I would remove any remaining fish, and wait 6 weeks for all the ich tomites to die, and in the mean time does copper to the remaining fish

Wow..... ich magnet or not the protozoa that causes it effects all fish. The! Ngs more so. The only sure fire way is to never introduce it by quarantineing your fish.
