5 Days ago I added my first fish to my new setup (saltwater black molly and pajama cardinalfish). My fish (except for the mollies that came later) underwent QT, had velvet (it was not ich). I used the tank transfer method to successfully irradicate the marine velvet. The fish that survived the velvet outbreak were a flame angelfish and the pajama cardinalfish. Since then I have had the fish in QT for observation including two black mollies to verify no disease remains. None of the fish have shown any sign of disease and were in QT for almost 3 months post-treatment, about 86 days. Now I have what appears to be an ich spot on the black molly I added to my display. I have no idea how it possibly could have gotten this. The flame angel and other molly are still in QT symptom-free with no treatment. The only idea I have is the live sand contained ich. I used dry rock and brand new, clean equipment. I'm bummed..... brand new set up, took my time with proper QT, and now this...... Frustrating! Ugh! Can anyone think of where else this could have come from? Could it be something else related to the new tank? What should I do?

Thanks in advance for everyone's thoughts!

It sounds like your doing everything right. Are you sure you were pretty strict on not using anything to cross contaminate your QT equipment (testing, water changes) ? How far away from your QT is from your display tank or even water changing buckets? I heard from humblefish that ich tomits can travel up to 10 feet being aerosolized in given environments

Good thought. The display is about 15 feet away in a different room. I tried my best not to use anything between the two tanks. At least not without washing with freshwater and drying first. In my case the QT tank hasn’t not been treated with medication for almost 3 months. I think I should have seen some sign of inch on the mollies at least a month or two ago.....?
