My freshwater tank just got ich I know this is saltwater forum just trying to post on every forum I know for help. Just checked like 3 minutes ago and found white spots. I have seen it before so I knew immediately that it was ich. I have never dealt with ich before. I have about 40 fish including red lyretail mollies (about 30 including babies) and some German blue rams. I got the rams from my LFS about a week ago and they seemed fine then a day later i went to the same store and there was a label saying they couldn’t sell the fish because they weren’t healthy. Now it has spread everywhere what should i do :(

wow that sucks its gonna be a pain capturing those fish to treat them but at least you know how the tank got ich
I think i am going to just treat the whole tank. There is no way i can capture all of them

ah yea thats probably the best option with so many fish
So what should i do get some medication? What medication should i get? SOrry if i sound very frantic and everything just really worried :|

well for saltwater the best treatment for ich is copper and ive read copper power is pretty good but ive never treated a fish for ich so i would wait for more experienced people to comment plus i havent had a fresh water tank in like 18 years lol

Freshwater ich is easier to treat than saltwater ich and a variety of treatment options work including increased temps, adding salt to the water, as well as numerous medications.

Ok i have increased the temp to 80 and i am searching for ich treatments

You have to increase the temp to 86f for 10 days for temperature to effectively treat ich for freshwater systems. I have found quick cure to be highly effective for the parasite.
