Yes i know people get it all year long but im thinking this is from the wild mass breakout infecting anyone thats buying fish now

I QT with GC for flukes, GC fed for internal parasites, worms, and copper power for ich/velvet.

TLDR: properly quarantine everything, and treat every fish or animal like it's covered in parasites and disease, because they usually are.

Long ranty version.
To avoid Cryptocaryon (Ichthyophthirius is a freshwater parasite) as well as all other parasites, proper quarantine and prophylactic treatment is necessary. Copper and formalin are extremely effective at killing parasites. Although other drugs work well too, those are my usual two I'll start with depending on what I'm running through QT. I'll sometimes run another treatment of Metronidazole at the end. Some people will use the garlic, hypo, herbal, UV or observation route but in professional quarantine they're considered useless methods of treatment and are not involved in proper/ strict quarantine. Standard quarantine (on any animal) is at least 30 days, and with fishes 21 days or more of that is a treatment period. After that you can observe for as long as you'd like, but if a fish hasn't been treated it's not clean. I've done a lot of skin scrapes and gill clips on newly arrived fish (standard protocol to check under a microscope) and every single wild fish, even from wholesalers who have rough QT, was infected with something.
