I read lots of threads about people getting ich and taking all fish out and acid bath for rocks plus long QT times for new fish. I have never had ich and of course making this thread I will go home to a tank full of it. I also do not QT anymore. Do we know enough about ich to not just assume its in our tanks and stress situations bring it out. It might be rare to have a tank without ich in it. I know you can put a new fish in with an active infestation but just seems like a normal part of a reef that healthy fish can absorb.

I guess new systems from dry rock and dry sand seeded from a bacteria in a jar maybe its not anymore but the old days of live gooey rock and live sand I would guess that parasite is almost always present

I am also not an expert and probably just both lucky and stupid

There have been studies on marine ich. Just check the quarantine section in the forum. It'll tell you all about it. And ich is not always present in the tank. It's brought in. There's just a lot of bad/wrong info going around and still going.
