I have ich in my tank, and there is pretty much nothing I can do about it, so I'm googling to practice ich management. I want all future fish to be quarantined to prevent worse diseases, velvet, brook, etc. My worry is when quarantined the fishes immune system is basically removed and putting it in a tank with ich may kill it? Would just observing for 4-8 weeks be enough to make sure there is nothing worse than ich?

My vote is on a observation only QT with a fully fleshed out system (real live rock, macro algae etc). It’s not a 100% foolproof but you should be able to catch most things fairly easily.
I would much rather do that than run a sterile QT with prophylactic treatments of copper and other poisons.

Oh, and just practice proper husbandry and ich isn’t a problem :)

Best of luck!
