Ich on Salfin?

Noticed my sailfin brush up twice against the sand so went to look at him and noticed a few spots.

See one on his tail and a few up high on him.

Just not sure if it’s ich? Don’t see anything under white lights only blue.

Most of trophonts may be actively biting into the skin/scales of the fish and the white spots (lesions) may not have yet shown themselves yet. Is this a new fish? Or has anything new been added to the tank without quarantining?

Newest fish was a tomini tang about a month ago. Never did a qt on any.

Is it possible it could be sand? My powerhead did stir up a bunch of sand still floating around.

Don’t see anything on any other fish.

Infection rates and progression can vary from fish to fish. Velvet is rampant in the aquarium industry lately. Lost a whole tank full of fish a couple of months ago. Sorry to say one of my angels was displaying the same behavior as your sail fin and had similar spots. With Velvet, time is of the essence. I would read the second link first and carefully read the section on symptoms.

You can try a freshwater dip to see if it's flukes.
Or wait 3-7 days to see if the white spots disappear. If it does disappear you have ich/c.irritans my friend as this is the normal life cycle of the parasite.
I suggest you read the link that Big G posted. It will also explain how to treat.
Unfortunately adding fish without QT is asking for trouble especially with the current rise in velvet cases.
