My Kole was so sick that I literally stuck a bucket in the tank and he swam right into it I was very lucky in that regard

Ich on a tang is like breakfast grits in the South. If you didn't want grits, why did you order breakfast?
Understood, however I've always kept tangs quite successfully and any sign of ich I would feed metro and within two weeks it would be gone or seemingly so. However also this tang which I've had for months or has been great. I'm just doing what's right and trying to treat before it gets worse. He seems unaffected be I know he is suffering to some degree with visible ich. If you think I was complaining about having to do this you may have me misunderstood. it's all part of reefkeeping.[emoji3]

Copper power. Is the brand I am using. Keeping it right below 2 on the test kit has worked very well for me. I was right where u are three weeks ago next Friday no more copper for my fish.

It was easy to use and I didn't have any negative effects. My blenny is a little more shy now that might be because of the copper I will let u know in a week. Make sure u get the blue not the green blue is for saltwater

I had a Blue Tang break out and took out all but 2 fish my sailfin tang and melanarus wrasse that I bought at the same time as the Blue Tang. Seems the blue tang had just came in to the LFS when I bought him. My Sailfin did not look as if he was going to make it, however he placed himself in front of a power head and stayed there for a week. I have used a Vortex Diatom Filter on my tanks for years for both fresh and saltwater. Purchased a Marineland 350 magnum hang on the back filter with the micron paper filter replacing the Vortex Diatom filter which is harder to find the diatom powder at times. The wrasse just shed a mucus layer and never showed any signs of the ich. The filter helps polish the water and removes the frefloating ich . I usually run it for a month or so after the last signs of the pest. Dropping the salinity also helps during the infestation period. Have had aquariums since I was 8 years old and that was the first time I lost a fish due to ich and my first tank wipe. That was 3 years ago and I am 62 years old. I still don't use a QT as a general rule. I do have a frag tank set u now that I may use to get a new fish eating and immune system up before placing into my display tanks as I have had 2 tangs and a flame angel die because the arrived real thin and not eating.

A tang that swims in to a powerhead has velvet, rather than ich.

Agreed. I used to know why but why dont you explain it to the op 4ford. If i remember doesnt it have something to do with oxygen?

They swim into the flow of a powerhead to seek relief from the parasites clogging up their gills. I'd love to know if they actually succeed with dislodging some of the trophonts by doing this.

I thought it was because it pushed higher volumes of oxygen through their damaged gills in a desperate attempt to breathe better-- much as you would revive a fish you caught that is weak by rocking it back and forth forcing water through its gills.

Id say it accomplishes both. Because if it helps dislodge trophants, it also free the guild and gets better oxygen to them as well

It probably just relieves their symptoms a little, which is why they do it and keep doing it. What it actually accomplishes (if anything) is open for debate. ;)

I've temporarily revived fish dying of velvet by shooting water through their gills on the powerhead, takes a few moments and a fish that was just breathing heavy and not moving can swim... Unfortunately it's a bandaid on a bullet wound and too little too late
