So I got 5 pair of clown. No fight or fins nipping at all. After 2 days the first clown dead so I put the rest in my hospital tank.

Symtoms: white dot on body, breath hard and white stringy poop.

They are in my hospital tank for 4 days. I'm dosing seachem Metroplex as direction on bottle.

I'm not sure if it's ich or brooklynella. So I decide to dosing Metroplex since it can be use to treat brooklynella and ich.

I also gave them 5min ro/di fresh water deep but nothing come out of it. And my second fish dead the next day.

My third clown die today... And on its body doesn't have any white dot... The rest of the fish have white dot on their body. I find it strange...

The commun thing about the 3 dead fishes is they didn't eat at all and mostly swim in the same place.

I have in stock Seachem Metroplex, Focus, Kanaplex, Bifuran, Prazipro and Paraguard.

Metroplex doesn't seem to be effective at all. Should I switch medication or I sticked with it?

I tested the water today:
0 ammonia
0 nitrite
10 nitrate
Salinity: 1.024
Temperature: 26c

Tough to say but I actually think you may have both. Metroplex won’t treat ich. You’ll need to add copper power and metroplex together. Don’t use prime, buy some Biospira for biofilter in quarantine, a Hanna copper checker to measure copper, and copper power.

Thank you for rreply. I have my quarantine tank running without fish for 3 weeks already I use to have a paired of cleaner shrimp in it. I seeded it with Seachem stability before. But before I added my clown I do 70% water change and I remove carbon from the filter media I also dose microbacter7. Do I still need Bio-Spira ? I used all mine when I seeded my DT. But I can order one and arrive tomorrow. As for copper, can I replace it with seachem Cupramine ?

You can replace with seachem cupramine but I recommend copper power it’s easier on the fish IMO. Stability is useless, I don’t have experience with microbacter7. Biospira is great stuff! :)

I agree with you Bio-Spira is great. But I don't have any right now I will order it tonight and it will arrive tomorrow. Hope my clown will do fine until I find copper pownder. Do u have any brand for recommandations?

Copper power is my specific copper recommendation, avoid coppersafe:)

Good advice given, just want to add that for white stringy poop (internal parasites, entirely different issue than the apparent ich-outbreak) you want to bind the metroplex to food using Focus, and feed it to your fish for at least 10 days, min twice a day. Only as much as they will eat at a time. It’s ok to do this while there is metroplex in the water.

And I have had no issues with cupramine as long as you take your time to get it to the correct level (I do it over 4-5days). It can be a bit more harsh otherwise. Make sure your test kit is compatible with your copper of choice.

I will do it this evening when I get home :) thank you :)

Hi! I started dosing Cupramine yesterday since I couldn't find Copper power and I mixte metroplex and focus with frozen brine shrimp as you told me too. So far so good. My clowns doesn't seem to stress. I also added air head in it.

But this morning I found something really really digusting at the bottom of the tank. It seems to be some worm... Do you have any idea what is it? Is it come out of the fish or live rock in there? I have 1 piece of live rock in there.

I would take the live rock out while using copper, it will absorb the copper possibly causing the levels to fluctuate. Also, it wouldn't be suitable for use in a tank with corals after. Those bristleworms and amphipods most definitely came from the rock after dosing the copper. It's pretty toxic stuff, that's why its so important to monitor the levels frequently, I always checked my QT tanks daily. Also, if you've never used copper before - do NOT add Prime or other ammonia reducers, as they will increase the toxicity of the copper tenfold and kill all your fish.

Thank you. I didn't add prime or anything for the moment and i will take the live rock out. I won't reuse it. I also bought Copper test. I will test to make sure I won't overdose it. Thank you. So far all the white spot seem to be almost disappeared. How long should I keep dosing Cupramine and metro ? 14 days as direction ? Thank you again ☺️

And I also wonder should I do water change while I dosing medication? Yesterday I tested the water in my hospital tank and I got 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and 10 nitrate. I also leave ammonia alert in there just in case there is ammonia spike. Also I did a water change yesterday after I did water test and before dosing Cupramine. The water is a bit cloudy today in my tank...

The copper you would want to run for 30 days, unless you have a second, sterile QT then you could transfer after 14 days. But it would need to be a completely clean and sterilized set-up, so you would need a second heater, powerhead, etc. Otherwise, you can run it for 30 days then remove with water changes and carbon. You can do water changes as needed, and as directed for the metroplex. Just be sure to dose the copper into the replacement water BEFORE adding it to the tank. I think (it's been a while) it was something like 10-11 drops to get a 5-gallon bucket to .5 ... the first couple of times I just tested the bucket water to make sure it was right before adding it in.

Thank you so much for your advise. I will do as you said. Thank you again :)
