I brought a juvi Emperor Angel home on Friday from my LFS that looked great over the 3 days I observed him and he was eating. I dipped in Safety Stop before adding it to my tank. Within 4 hours I seen him flashing against the rocks. He wasnt hiding or acting weird so didnt know what it was to treat yet. I observed for a couple days and even though he was still eating a bit I could see he was getting a little worse and starting to shake his head and flashing more. He would start to hang out up top corner opposite end of my gyre for a bit and then go down to the bottom in the rocks and in my helicopter. To me he was showing a few signs of both ich and flukes. When he swam up towards the light I saw a couple little white specs on his pectoral fin so I leaned more towards ich. This was two days later on Sunday and I treated the tank with Rid Ich Plus which I had luck with in the past. Monday night he is acting worse but still no visibly lesions and I dosed the tank again per directions of every 24hrs. Now Tuesday morning I observe him and notice heavy breathing and not eating at all. I get home from work this evening and he is not coming out at all I have seen pieces of him and still see no more or less white spots and a bit ago I see my Harlequin Tusk start to shake his head and flash a bit. With the Emperor showing hardly any at all white spots and my Tusk no spots should I lean more toward gill flukes? I dont have a QT and I have zero room for one. My tank is a 135g fowlr with Harlequin Tusk, Majestic Angel, Fiji Puffer, and this new Emperor. I have Prazi Pro that I can treat with I’ll just have to go to LFS to get water before I dose tomorrow so I dont potentially make things worse.

Hi my first marine tank ever I kept losing fish and I had no idea why and it was quite annoying until one day I messed up a water change and made the salinity 1.027 instead of 1.020. My fish were absolutely covered in velvet and after bringing down the salinity the symptoms went away but I kept losing fish.

Anyways just because you don't see ich/velvet doesn't mean it isn't there. The best place to see it is on the fins and it's the first place I inspect a fish.

I recommend doing a fw dip for five minutes in a dark bucket and then checking for any flukes that might've come off. If you see no flukes I would recommend treating for ich/velvet especially since you said you saw some spots.

The life cycle of ich is a couple of weeks so you won't eradicate it in the time youve had him. I've never used ich-x so as to the effectiveness of it I'm not sure. I will always recommend using copper
