Ich or velvet I need to dose ASAP???

Hey guys is this ich or velvet??? Only my sailfin tang and what looks like 1 clown is showing symptoms I think it’s ich but someone said it might be velvet ???

Looks like Ich to me. Look at my post from a few years back when I was going through the same thing, pictures look similar. If I would have gotten my fish in coopersafe earlier I probably could have saved some more of them. All of the fish I got into qt on meds made it.

Treatment for ich and velvet is the same. Start the copper at 1.0 and start ramping.

Looks like velvet to me with the larger nodules being the fishes response.

Ramp fast.

I don’t have anything to test the copper levels right now so I’m kinda scared to dose

Are they showing other symptoms, sensitivity to light, swimming into flow?

Without a copper test, I am sure there is a formula you can use to get an approximate 1.0ppm dosage.

I agree with this, ich usually presents itself as pronounced white dots, but your case seems to be less pronounced and more of a film

No not showing light sensitivity and not swimming into flow behavior wise everyone is acting normal and eating well...I’m using cupramine by seachem

Yea I just added cupramine it said 20 drops per 10.5 us gallons...I only added 10 drops so far so I’m only treating 5.25 gallons out of my 15 gallons

I don’t have a bottle in front of me. It should tell you a dosage. Just start with half dosage for whatever it recommends per gal.

A peroxide bath (should be a sticky here on it) would not be a bad idea to knock stuff off.

Without a test kit, you are at a disadvantage, but if you know the exact volume of the tank, you can use the Cupramine instructions to get to 0.50 ppm.
Measure your tank's water - width x length x water height then divide that by 231. That will give you the gallons of water in the tank, presuming there are not a lot of items displacing water (big rocks, etc.).
Get the copper up to full today, then get a test kit to monitor......

Monitor the ammonia level daily as well.

Thank you I will be dosing copper I have dosed half dosage right now which is 10 gallons...I have 15 gallons in the 20 gallon tank...I’m gradually increasing the dosage of copper I will get a copper test this afternoon thanks for your help

Hey guys just an update all the fish are doing good so far...all still eating which is good...the copper treatment is in the tank dosed 10 gallons out of 15 gallons I will be getting a test kit and then I will begin ramping up the copper treatment to the required dosage...then just monitor the fish
