Ich or velvet?

Thanks for those videos. It seems that the most obvious differences are the presence of cilia on ich, and the lack of it on velvet, and velvet is almost round vs. ich being more elongated ...

It's been a week, and visible signs of infection in the DT have not spread beyond the butterflies. The other fish are wrasses, clowns, gobies, genicanthus, and anthias. Not sure if all of these are resistant to parasites, but I'm taking it as a sign that this was ich and not velvet.

I had the fish in ebay CP for 3 days, and saw a reinfestation on that third day. Knowing that my CP may be questionable, I decided to switch to copper. I did another round of FW and acriflavine dips, and that knocked back the visible signs of infestation. While the fish were in the acriflavine bath, I changed 100% of the tank water. After I placed the fish back in the QT, I began ramping copper. So far, all of the fish are eating well, and almost all of the white spots are gone.

I will keep posting status back. I plan to move the fish to a clean holding after 14 days in copper, and then observe for 14 days. I need the QT tank to start treating the rest of the fish in the DT.

All of the fish that went in to QT with copper moved out after 30 days, and have been sitting in a holding tank while I figure out how to deal with the DT. The plan was to then take batches of fish through copper while the DT was fallow. The issue I ran in to was that, in order to go fallow for 76 days from where I was, I was going to have to deal with this over the holidays. Given the busy schedule, I decided to risk it and see if I could manage the DT until just after the New Year, and then go fallow.

I've seen no signs of any infestation in the DT since I removed the butterflies, which were all showing white spots. I have about 30 other fish in the DT, a collection of anthias, dwarf angels, wrasses, mandarins, and gobies, with a kole and a yellow tang, and none of those fish had shown any signs of infestation (no spots, no behavioral issues, etc).

I know this doesn't mean that I can skip the fallow period and just put the butterflies back in. But I did take it to mean that I could wait on dealing with the chore of maintaining what would amount to five systems over the holidays.

So for now, it's ich management in the DT (which, to be honest, hasn't really meant any change for me), maintain a tank of butterflies for the next month, and then pull the rest of the fish out of the DT and go through copper. I'm worried about how some of them will handle this, but more on that when I get there ...

My two full months were done, QT is over. Now I notice flat worms here & there munching on my coraline...
I should have followed my instinct and treated the DT while the fish were out.

Time for me to find a recent flatworm thread...! Fish are doing fine BTW and corals growing. Still doing big WCs, just because I can. Just less often (max 2weeks).
