So I currently am having the begging stages of ich I believe. I have two tangs, a GSM clownfish, and a 6 line. The GSM definetly has some small tiny white salt like white spots on her. My mimic tang who I’ve had for a month now started iching about two weeks ago, and my scopis started iching today for the first time that I noticed. My scopis has been hiding most of the day and being shy which is unusual. Both tangs are currently grazing on algae on the rocks and still eating Mysis, pellets, and nori, appetite is still there. The GSW is definetly moving a little slower then normal but still eating well. Six line is it scratching as well but still eating. I got into this hobby with not a lot of knowledge, and encouragement from someone who has not been the mentor they were suppose to be. In the course of the last few months I feel in love with this hobby so I’m learning, studying, and figuring it out now as I go. I’ve only gotten all my cuc, fish, rocks, corals, and even water from my LFS who claims he dips and treats all the above as well as quarantines all his fish. He was also the guy who convinced me salt water was super easy for a beginner. This is something I am going to do for a long time but at the moment I’m caught between a rock and a hard place. I love my fish they are my baby’s and I really don’t want to lose them. I’ve started feeding them DR.GS anti-parasitic food today as a hope to keep them alive as long as possible till I can figure out my next move. It seemed to mess with my rose BTA’s so I’m hesitant to put it back in my reef. I know there is no medication that is reef safe (that I’m aware of) , and copper is the only true way to kill ick in your tank unless you wait 8 weeks with no fish in your reef system. I can not afford a quarantine tank atm with the corona stuff going on. I never set one up because I was naive and believed my LFS when he told everything is disease free and that he’s been in the hobby 35 years, so figured I did not need one. I’m learning the hard way and it def feels bad man.. Now on to my question. Is there anything I can use or do to save my fish, with out buying a quarantine tank? I do not mind spending money on medication but from all my research it seems no medicine will work unless it’s copper for 30 days in QT unless there is a method I’m not aware of(Salinity, heat I know about). My parameters are fine ATM, but my fish are not and I can only assume it’s going to get worse. I’m only looking for help and it’s been so pretty stressful so please no negative comments just help and insight!! Thank you for your time!! Also if u zoom in on the GSM you can see tiny white dots! That’s what I think is ich

So with out QTing fish your going to have to try ich management. Here is a good read about it.

Yes, unfortunately it's a reality that a parasite can infect a fish we have chosen to buy, regardless if the fish was quarantined and even treated by the seller of LFS. Sorry to say that us as hobbyist have to go the extra mile when we choose to buy a fish.

Anyway, sometimes we have to think outside the box in times like these. Rubbermaid totes, tubs, buckets, free tanks, cheap tanks....etc can work as hospital tanks. Can do tank transfer method as well with these.

Reverse thinking could be the only option as well. Take all the sand, rocks and corals out and place in buckets or totes and treat the tank as a big hospital tank.

Also someone locally could help you out by lending you a hospital tank to get through this, but if they have ich, your going to have to act soon.

I think in your situation, I would at least try TTM with totes.

Just went through this and after much research it is clear you need to get all the fish in qt and treat them and let the tank go fish less for 76 days. Only way to get rid of it. When this started for me, and I ended up trying to treat the fish in the tank, I lost them all. Did the 76 days and qt all new arrivals.

good luck. Not a good place.
