Are adult ich visible to the naked eye? I see multiple white critters moving fast around the glass aquarium. They look like small lice, and they crawl pretty fast, thanks

ich isn't visible to the naked eye ever. If you see signs of it, it's on the fish and what your looking at is the slime coat building up around the insertion point of the parasite. The things you are seeing are likely pods. They are great for your tank! :D

They look kinda of oval shape with a little tail at the end kinda freaks me out seeing that many critters

Pods... like itsy bitsy shrimp. All curled up. I'm sure @KJ will pop in with a picture and description in just a minute. :D

That would be greatly appreciated to see if I can match an image close enough to what I'm seeing, I thought I might have to run to the store and by condor ich bottle

Never treat your DT with Copper or any medication without first researching the ramifications of it. Your rock and sand will absorb most meds at a minimum and at the worst make it lethal for any inverts to live in the tank.

I never use copper, I know the the consequences of those solution, I use kordon rid ich solution

Im sorry, Rid ick may work in freshwater tanks, but saltwater ick is a different parasite all together. It wont work if uou do encounter ick in the future. I recommend reading the stickies in the disease forum as much as you can. Its full of great info for the future.

Oh, and welcome to r2r! Congrats on the pod population, its something we all strive to have more of in our tanks

Thank you, melypr1985 , I think it's been a month now that my tank is at cycle still, I had to make my own saltwater using RO filtration and 5 gallon bucket of salt due to being in Tucson Arizona where there's hardly much of sfs here

Well it seems like your off to a great start! Keep it up and make sure to start a build thread in the member's tanks section of the forum.

i have an ich problem too my helfrichi scratches himself on the sand bed. i'm going to continue trying to feed a variety of foods and see if that eventually helps them overcome the parasite

I would isolate that fish and put it on a quarantine tank, parasite are persistent , base on my research Ick can live up to 8 weeks inside a tank without any host around, I believe that's how they can complete their cycle before dying off without a host and medicine added to the tank
