I'm in the middle of a 10 day treatment using Polyp Lab Medic. Do the full 10 day treatment. Mine lost all his spots day 3, then today I noticed a couple popped up. I've read a lot from people saying this isn't effective but if you have no other option it's worth a shot, IMO. I'm gonna have a qt up in the next couple of months. There are not a lot of good options short of having a dedicated medication tank for copper or hyposalinity. If the ich population stays low, Polyp Lab Medic has worked for some people. It is a peroxide salt. However, as I posted yesterday for another member - Cryptocaryon, saltwater ich multiplies geometrically. When the trophonts (the white spots you see) reach a certain number, nothing but a full copper treatment is going to stop them, it is called "propagule pressure" where the attacking ich parasites themselves cause the fish enough stress that no amount of "good food and pristine water" will cure them...you will lose very single fish. If the ich infection remains under that number, you can sometimes manage ich with UV sterilizers, good water conditions, and good food. Trouble is - nobody knows what that number is, or if it is the same number for every fish! Generally, it is around 25 to 100 spots on a fish - after that point, it really takes off.
I've done 2 treatments now and this seems to be fairly common (at least for me). After the 10th day the spots on my midnight angelfish were completely gone (but there were still persistent spots midway through treatment). For me, catching these fish is simply not an option - and it would unduly stress them in any event.
