Hiya, I have a random question ! Can you see ich/velvet under the microscope ? Is this a possible way of testing you have got rid of the parasites ?

Yes, you can see darn near anything with a microscope now a days But no it is not a good way to test for them.

More than sure. There is one known strain that lasts the 76 days, that is why the follow is that long, to ensure that strain (or similar unknown) is covered. . The odds you have that strain? Lower than minute. A follow of 30 days would be adequate in most cases. Good luck!
