Ich vs Stress Spots. How to tell the difference

Is that a myth^ or can tangs form stress spots that look like that? (I always thought they were more blotchy).

Also, what can look like ich, but is more flat and semi-transparent (flukes, etc?)?

I still think they mean ich, but they mean an outbreak of ich due to stress (stress lowers the immune response).

^^ This and "stress spots" are larger & blotchy looking. Anything the size of a salt grain is going to be ich, the beginnings of Lympho (or a bacterial infection), or possibly sand stuck to the mucous coat. Fine sugar-like sprinkles spread all over the fish's body is likely to be velvet; skin peeling or sloughing off, and excess mucous forming around the affected area(s) is likely to be brook.
