Every fish is a little different, but for some the longer they're in copper the tougher it gets.

So should I start removing it until she starts eating again? As mentioned, she is still eating a little - primarily nori from a clip - but just not as much as she normally has.

Just a quick update, she's back to eating normally and the spot pictured in the previous post has started to fade. All the other fish are perfect, so is it safe to assume it may have just been a spot where she brushed up against something? She does hang around the heather every once and a while so maybe that was the problem?

I would say its more likely she got snagged on the edge of one of those PVC elbows. The edges are not always smooth, and fish are always coming & going from inside of them. But if she got herself wedged in-between the heater and the glass, that could have done it as well as she struggled to free herself. Lost a Hippo Tang one time to that in QT.

Yeah, I tried to sand down the sharp spots on the PVC elbows when we first set yup the QT - I even got cut on one them - but may have missed some of the inside corridors. In any case, I'm glad she's eating again and I'll keep an eye on her if any other erratic behavior occurs. Thank you!

So 30 days of the Copper Treatment is coming up next Sunday and I'm just trying to make sure I have everything needed to start pulling the copper back out. I have a bag of Cuprisorb and a Poly Filter on the way. I don't think I can fit the cuprisorb in the HOB filter, so is it ok to just leave that at the bottom of the tank? Also, how long does it normally take to remove CopperSafe from a 20G?

I would observe for at least a couple of weeks to be sure. You can deworm (using Prazipro) during this time, if you haven't done so already.

Do you have a reactor you can put it in? The water is most likely just going around it in the HOB.

It needs flow running thru it to absorb the copper. Using a HOB works but its a painstakingly slow process. Running carbon/cuprisorb in a reactor makes for the most efficient use. That would technically work, but very inefficiently.

1. Assuming you use the proper amount, 24 hrs.
2. Once Cuprisorb is exhausted it turns dark blue. You can either toss it or regenerate it using muriatic acid.
3. Rox 0.8 (BRS sells it).
4. I would only run Cuprisorb; it works better at removing copper.

It took cuprisorb longer to remove coppersafe than cupramine for certain.

Giant water changes and cuprisorb, poly filters, and carbon did it for me. Took a couple weeks and a few large water changes
