Today I noticed a few white spots on my my mimic tangs pectoral fins that I have now had for two weeks there only seems to be 2 or 3 is this possibly ich ? If so would the parisite be reproducing in the the sandbed by now ?

A pic would help confirm but assuming it is ich, it's in the tank now.
I don't think it's ich from the pic. I wouldn't sweat it. How's it eating, looks a little thin, I would just feed it more if it's eating well.

Are you offering any nori? I have found various tangs arrive pretty thin when I order online. Whithin a few weeks time they are usually pretty healthy and fat with good nutrition. Tangs should be offered enough nori to graze on for 3/4 of the day.
He does look awfully thin to me. Also I don't see any spots in the pic above. Keep an eye on whatever spots you are seeing especially if they are increasing.

You might try some sheets of nori on a clip, so it's available throughout the day.
