hi everyone,

my blue tang recently got ich so i started to treat him in a Qt tank with copper safe at 2.0 (therapeutic) and the ich is all still there. My question is how long does it take for ich to fall off the fish and for it to be cleaned? honestly this ich looks like its dug and snug into his skin so im not sure if it was ich or not. in my previous experience, it would usually fall off fast, but its been on for a while now despite being in 2.0 copper level of copper safe.

Certainly looks like ich. How long have they been in copper and how quickly did you get to 2.0? What are you using to measure your copper level?

i got it up pretty quickly within a couple of days and its been round 1.88-2.0 since Monday. should it have fallen off by now or not

That stage according to reef2reef stays on the fish 3-7 days. Copper doesn't affect ich while its attached to the fish. The white spots are mucus from fish's immune system to the ich.

+1 ^ Are the spots raised off the skin? to me the spots look too large for just an ich diagnoses. Possibly a combination of ich and secondary Lympho viral infection. Check out this this thread below.

yeah thats what i was worried about to. i was wondering if it was a combo of lmmpho and ich because the spots are not coming off and none of the other fishes are showing signs of ich

Holy crap. I hope you find out what this is. Make sure ya oxygenate the crap out of the water and goodluck

Looks like black ich aka turbellarians worms. Get some prazipro to treat. 2 treatment should be able to rid of them.

i have seen black ich before and it didnt seem like it. the spots were white and fuzzy looking before i attempted the freshwater dip. now he is back in the qt and looks like white spots again all over. so werid, but i am using prazi copper and metro/kana all at once so lets see which one pulls it through

4-7 days and spots are gone, but go 14 days after last spot seen for safety, and another 7 out of copper.
I have not seen Ick like that ever.
