Hello! Just wanted to confirm that this is ich? The yellow tangs spots lasted for about 2 days and is now completely clean of spots and looks very healthy, wrasse still has maybe 1 spot (had about 10) added some coral a couple weeks ago…. I did add a little baking soda / mixed RODI to the water to raise my alkalinity a little bit if that could have caused the spots? Dropped my ph from 8.1- 7.9 (checked with a Hanna so not very accurate) spots were on about 2 other fish minimally the next morning after I did that….. thanks in advance!!! Oh and my alk was 6.8 raised it to 7.5 in about a 24 hr period

Doesn’t look like ick to me.
Very white and kinda large.
Hard to tell on some of those spots.
Looks more like flukes to me.
If it displays no other symptoms, I’d just watch, stabilize that water and feed lots of nori.

The size of the nodules suggests not ich but lymphocystis which is viral and often triggered by poor water quality, diet or both
Poor water quality can be lack of maintenance or simply elevated ammonia and/or nitrates

What test kits are you using?
What foods are you feeding?

Thanks! I am using mostly all Hanna test kits…. And honestly didn’t test for ammonia but I will do that today just to make sure it’s good…. That’s my only Red Sea tester.

nitrates are pretty steady between 5-6 ppm..
phos at .0
Salinity 1.025
Alk @ 8dkh now.. as I said was a bit low.. 6.8
Calcium 460
Haven’t tested magnesium.

had a pretty bad Dino outbreak( I think) too in the middle of all this and not sure if scrubbing the rocks down in the tank could cause these spots? Have since started changing filter socks daily and cut out my white lights for 3 days to help combat it.

I I’m feeding about a 50/50 mix of frozen mysis and rods original… and quite a bit of nori throughout the day

Look at ammonia and PH
Scrubbing rocks can and may have caused issue as best done in a bucket of tank water.

Phosphate should not be 0.
This can trigger Dino’s to take hold.
They’re at .07*** typo. Know of any good ways to get rid of them without any chemicals? Not sure what type they are… dark brown long stringy and contain a lot of air bubbles! Starting to try and cover up corals. Pretty dang annoying…. Plumbing in a big uv I got as soon as the rest of the plumbing gets here for it

Thank you!!!! Ph was 8.3 and ammonia is at 0…. I’m guessing it was trying to clean that algae that caused my issues….. would take out the rocks but all mortared together…. If I ever build another tank will definitely just stack the rocks…… any suggestions for removal in the tank? I’d ride it out but the Dino’s just seem to be getting worse…. Trying to cover corals and stuff

Stringy with bubbles sounds like diatoms to me.
These I just suck out regularly, they will go as system matures.
Dinos, if they leave the sand at lights out,UV them, stir some sand, keep them in the water column and change socks frequently.
Bring water chemistry in check and stable.
They will go, be persistent.

Thanks!!!! The sand has stayed pretty clean due to my Diamond gobies and conch… gets turned a lot…. Here is a video of the algae…. Pretty minimal now as I’ve numbed my lights to blue only and down to 8 hours a day
