So my powder tag has ick and my tennenti tang has black ick. Tennenti tang has spots on it brown to black spots all over. What can I do to solve both these issues. I want to treat the fish in DT. It's near impossible to get them out with my rock work unless I destroy the rock work. I heard of possible using prazi pro and polylab medic to treat tank that won't hurt my corals. I have already turned the heat up so that the tank is set at 80 degrees. Seems when I solve one problem I get two more shssh. Can anyone offer any info that can help my situation. My tank 180 gallons. My tank maintained a temp of 77.5 to 77.2 degrees. Salinty 35. Ph 8.3 alk 9.5, Meg 1400, ca 445. Nitrite 0 Nitrate 0 Ammonia 0. OH. Forgot to mention just bought some DR.G's Gourmet Aquaculture that has prazi pro in it. I wanted to treat my tank with Prazi pro but my LFS advised against it??.HELP!!!

You can treat your display with Prazipro (the dr g's probably won't help with flukes since they are external parasites and need to be exposed to the meds for an extended period of time - 24 hours will do it). Ick can't be treated in the display unless you want to try HYPO. Hypo doesn't treat all strains of ick, so that's something to think about. You also have to remove all inverts and corals from the display if you choose to run Hypo. I'll link some extra info on it for you. Hyposalinity

Thanks melypr1985 for the article. I have also read a couple writeups by Humblefish also. Melypr1985 have u heard of polylab medic. It is supposed to be reef safe and can treat tank with ich? Any truth to this Humblefish?? Am in a situation right now where I can't set up my QT. The place they are going is under construction as of now. So can't take fish out..and not only that it's the scape I glued all of them n it's alot of rocks to take out to catch all the fish..seems as if am screwed here..

Pretty sure we had a thread recently where they tried it. It didn't do anything at all for their fish and they lost one, I think, before it was abandoned. It's being tried and you can certainly try. If you do, I would urge you to document with lots of pictures and post your progress here for others to learn from. I'll tell you that I think it's more a tool for ick management and not a cure. There is NO cure for ick or velvet that is reef safe. Sorry hun :(

The update. Well I have been treating the PBT and Tennenti Tang and all tangs in tank with Garlic, I've also been feeding DR.G's Gourmet foods with Prazi in it and another food with something col phosphate? Feeding lots of nori. Also using DR.G's Anti D-wormer. Veggie pellets. Marine Algae wafers. Flakes with garlic. Am basically giving them everything under the sun. The PBT tang is all cleared up and so is the Tennenti tang that also had Black ick. Tennenti tang went from infested to a 2 or 3 spots. Ok. Thought this was funny. Anyone with kids saw the animation movie with will Smith as a fish where they had a whale wash lol. Well that's how it was in my tank. A line was formed for my DR. Fish I so call him bc I can't remember it's name. So any how a line was formed with my PBT and the Tennenti tang and sailfin tang all waiting for a grooming funny as hell. Hey!! I have to have some Humor with this right..But it was cool..all fish are swimming two yellow tang back to fighting with each other and the orange shoulder tang being the beast that he or she is..fish are all spread out in the DT free swimming. So am not out of the woods by any means but I think it's a step in the right direction..so what I did was immediately raised the DT to 80 degrees up the garlic dosage to four times every feeding 5 different foods through out the day. All of the above and more..took some water out of my DT. About 2 to 3 gallons so my ATO would go on and refill my DT with clean RO water and kept on treating. I did however see my orange shoulder tang side swipe the sand and so did my other tang but no spots on them..the only one that had the symptoms were PBT and Tennenti Tang.. so thank all for your help. Am however still strapped on this roller coaster for the long ride to where ever it may lead. But am looking for that clear path to redemption.. parameters as of yeterday is.
Temp 80.5
PH 82.9
ALK 9.2
CALC 425
MAG 1440
AMMONIA 0
NITRITE 0
NITRATE 10 bc of all the feeding.
Phosphate 3
Sal 35

My only (further) advice is to take the fish out and QT properly. Run the tank fallow for 76 days to kill off the ick in the display. It's still in there. You've probably read the article on Ick and it's lifecycle and how to treat already. In it, it's explained about the life cycle of ick and how it will drop off the fish in order to reproduce inside a cyst on a hard surface in the tank. The spots will be back, but I'm glad the fish are still doing ok with it. All that feeding is going to give them plenty of energy to fight through all this.

The PBT is almost guaranteed to lose that battle within a 30-360 days max. Unfortunately ich management doesn't work for acanthurus tangs
