Despite everyone telling me I was wasting my time and the only real treatment for ick is copper or hypo, Ick Attack works.

I received a tiny Blue Caribbean tang on September 14th from Live Aquaria and put him into a quarantine tank. Within a few weeks he developed ick and I immediately started treating with Ick Attack. I treated for four weeks until all spots had disappeared, I stopped treatment a week ago. The fish has done very well the entire time, he has been eating, very active and actually has doubled in size over the past seven weeks.

This is obviously not scientific but the bottom line is that it worked for me, the key is to double the doses and feed well with a garlic enhanced food. I am going to wait another 3 weeks or so before adding him to my main tank (90G) depending on how he looks. He is growing so fast that he is outgrowing the 29gallon QT, and its a biocube so there is no where to swim.

While it may have worked, the idea behind Ich medications NOT working, is that they DON'T work in a reef tank. If it's strong enough to kill Ich, as in your double dosage, it's strong enough to kill most other beneficial inverts in the reef tank.

Another thing that might of worked was the fish's immune system. That is a long time in a quarantine tank and if you have been feeding a lot (since he doubled in size) the fish's natural defenses probably fought off the ich. Also, like stated above, if it is string enough to kill ich chemically it will be strong enough to wipe out a reef. Typically when I treat with copper the ich looks gone in about a week or less, when I use heavy feeding with garlic soaked food it takes about two to three weeks to
subside.

Agreed with all of the replies above. You didn't cure the ich. The fish is a quliaty specimen (it came from Live Aquaria) and is eating well. Not much of a mystery here.
