Ick ick ick

What type of fish? Qt tank size? Does your fish eat?
Do 25 to 50 percent water changes twice a week to keep ammonia under control. Dose copper like cupramine or coppersafe

Ich comes from the water and on the fish's body. If your tang has ich there is ich in your dt. What other fish do you have?

They all need to be put in qt and let your dt sit fallow for 76 days to get rid of it

In the post he states "The DT itself must be left fallow (fishless) for 76 days to starve out any remaining parasites. Corals/inverts cannot host, so they can be left in the DT during the fallow period."
So basically, you are maintaining your tank as usual minus the fish of course in order to deny the Theronts a host (ie fish) thereby interrupting the Ich lifecycle.

Inverts can host. They can't contract but they can host.

Yes, agreed. Inverts can host the Tomont stage (ie cysts attach themselves to a snail shell for example), when the they hatch into the Theront stage if they don't find a fish to host they will die off...

In my opinion leave things as they are and look for the stress factor of the fishes - poor food, compatibility issues, water quality...?
Since years I always had ich in my tanks and a small sign of ich I consider as an alarm bell that something else is wrong - never lost any fishes (tangs included) due to ich.
Most LFS I am buying from have ich in their systems, but I never ever quarantined anything.
Good luck and no panic :)

I agree with leave the tank as is and let the fish fight it off, when I first started, I have 9 fish in my 120 gallon, got trigger that has ick, he died and 2 other fishes died. My other 6 fishes survived and since then I added 3 more fishes and they all fine for the past 3 months. I am not planning to add more fish without Qt since now I setup 20 gallon QT (extra tank that I happened to have).
