I have moved my fish into a QT from the DT to let it go fallow for 76 days. The original fish in the DT were not quarantined and i noticed a couple white spots around Christmas so I decided to pull them and do it right. I Still have one more left to “fish” out of the DT to start the time clock. QT is a 55gal tank. All the other fish have been in there 10 days already with 1.5+ Levels of Copper power (Hanna checked) all along. Everyone doing good in the QT and eating fine. No more signs of ICK on anyone.

Two days ago I had an opportunity to acquire a somewhat rare addition that I have wanted from a store so I figured now was as good as any going into QT. No signs of issue on the new fish.

MY QT remains at 1.89 (Hanna) copper power. I check it daily and keep it above 1.75 to 2.0.

On Day 1 the new addition shows a couple white dots on the body but is eating well for day 1!

All fish are fed with FOCUS and General Cure in the DT during the First 30 days.

Today the new fish had several more white dots but a few of the others in the tank (been in copper for ~10 days) are now also showing white spots. Appetites are still very good. Everyone eating the treated food and living well in the CU water. No signs of stress or heavy breathing on old or new fish. And obviously these guys are right where they need to be for this right now.

My Hanna Checker is verified with their check standard (I bought the check standards for all my Hanna’s) so it is accurate.

Is this normal? I thought that ICK was affected in the swimming stage by the copper? Does anyone know the possibilities for transmission between fish (physical barrier between new addition and a couple of the fish showing visible symptoms. Can it remain on the fish 10+ days AND THEN show as dots?

Again - I am not seeing signs of stress.

Ideas?

Can you upload pics?

White spots aren't always ich. It could be lympho, flukes, bacterial, etc.

Without seeing a pic, it's hard telling.

The dots on them are now mostly gone and the ones on the side fins are turning opaque. Can’t get a decent shot as they are tangs and angels so they are not very good at “posing” for me. Will keep trying.

Not Flukes. I am familiar with that. The other could be possible. Will keep trying to get a pic.
