Hi guys I got a case of ick in my display tank. I already started mover out some of my fish and treating them with copper. Planning to moving the rest out by this weekend. I know people are saying the only way to kill all the ick is to do a 8 to 10 week fishless cycle. Is there a way to speed up the cycle? Can I do a Hyposalinity and bump put the temp to kill at the ick quicker?

Hyposalinity can work. The problem with this method is that there are some hypo resistant strains of Ich.

Higher temps can speed up the cycle but there just aren't enough studies to show how high you would need to go for how long. I'm not sure there is any solid reference that you could use to tell you when it would be safe to add the fish back at a given temperature.

A lot of it depends on what you have in your tank. If you have corals many of these methods won't work.

I will be taking all my live stock out. I will have no fish, no invertebrates, no corals in the tank. Just the live rock, filter media and cheato.

So you don't have any corals, inverts, etc. in your display tank?
