So I did something stupid. Bought my first fish at a local fish store. That’s not the dumb thing. I took him home and put him in a 10 gallon hospital tank. I watched him for a day and dropped him in. The only problem is 2 days later he has ick. It’s the only fish in the aquarium it’s a 6 line wrasse. What do I do now? There is a coral banded shrimp and 2 other hermit crabs plus a few pieces of coral.

Move the fish back to 10g QT. Treat with copper. Preferably copper power and use the Hanna checker to monitor.

Allow your DT to be fishless for 76 days. All inverts are good to stay in the display during 76 day fallow period.

I don’t have a Hannah checker is there something cheaper but accurate

There is an API kit that is cheap that works with chelated copper like copper power.

Problem is it's very hard to read.

And what about corals
Corals are good to stay in DT for fallow period. Just no fish. The fishless part is what allows the parasites to die off as they can't continue to cycle without a fish host.

Fish parasites will not harm corals or inverts.

Can you upload a pic of the fish? Are you 100% positive it's ich?

So my wrasse seems to have disappeared or is really good at hiding or the worst. I will check in the morning but when I left he was swimming happily just had ick on him

Hard to tell from the photo. How many white dots are you seeing on him?
