Well i think my tang spread that ick out bc he is the only one who keep flashing. How long does ick kill off fish?It is kind of hard to tell from the pics but I think I see a spot on the angel’s tail and if you’re seeing spots like that on all your fish then it sounds like you have ick.
The first post on this thread will help you decide what to do. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/ich-cryptocaryon-irritans.191226/
With fish of that size and number my advice is to get a 30-40 gallon tank or a couple of 20 longs and treat for 30 days with copper. The preferred copper med is usually copper power and the method of checking the dosage in the water is the Hanna copper checker.
You will need to leave your tank fishless for 76 days in order to be as sure as possible that all the ich has died in the tank.
Oh my i just order 2 borbonius and pink tail wrasse from ny aquatic that come tomorrow cost me over $600. Doesn’t expect that happen to my tank. I can not catch them out. I’m filling up the water and mix salt tomorrow for qt. How long it take for my Qt to cycle asps by bio spira and seeded sponge??Usually by infesting the gills and damaging them to the point where the fish can’t breathe.![]()
I usually feed reef frenzy with hikari’s squid mixed with garlic. I heavy feed and all my fish eat really well, especially my trigger and angel. Bad thing they have ich. Then how long it take for cycle a Qt with bio spiral and seed sponge????Sorry misread ‘how’ for ‘how long’. Ifh doesn’t kill in days most of the time, usually in weeks, but the sooner you treat the better in terms of damage to this fish and the chance of secondary bacterial infections.
In the mean time try feeding more and feeding the highest quality food to help your fish keep their strength and immune system up
So i plan to make a Qt with 10ga and should I put copper power right away or just put seed sponge and keep do water in couple days????.I’m not sure I haven’t used biospura. In a qt you can plan to do heavy water changes at first to help you keep up with ammonia. Don’t use prime or other ammonia binders if you’re dosing copper because the combo is lethal to fish.
My guess is biospira will cycle in 1-5 days but I’m not sure
I have 1 trigger, 1 angel, 1 tang, 2 a lyretail anthias , couples wrasse. Does 20 ga enough for my live stock?just one 10 gallon? Based on the fish I see in the pics I would very much encourage you to get at least 20 long tanks.
I need to go for the night - my advice for right now is to take a few deep breaths and do some reading on the disease forum and make a plan for your fish. My husband’s dad is a doctor and he has an expression that after the first mistake the second isn’t far behind. Do some reading and planning and your fish will be much better off than if you act quickly but without thinking things through.

No, a 20 long x1 is not enough ..need like x3 I would say.I have 1 trigger, 1 angel, 1 tang, 2 a lyretail anthias , couples wrasse. Does 20 ga enough for my live stock?
I may spilit to different tank. My cousin has a system of 4 10 gal tank. Just concern whether I directly dose cooper power to 1.75 or dose gradually??No, a 20 long x1 is not enough ..need like x3 I would say.
I can’t tell from the pics if it’s ich or velvet but if your trigger is swimming into the flow in a corner that’s a sign of velvet.
You’ll need a 40G or even better a 55G to QT all of your fish.
Ramp up copper (copper power) to 2.0 ppm over the next few days,if your fish can wait that long. They will need to stay in copper for either 14 days if you can transfer to a sterile QT or 30 days if you only have the one. Your display will need to be fallow (fishless) for 76 days to cover all the bases parasite wise.
