I just received the results from my first ICP test.
Most of the warning lamps are green except for Sn (tin). I'm not really sure what to do now. My tank and equipment is all <6 months old. I do not see anything rusting or any known metal sources in the tank. Should I spend the $50 and run the test again? Here are some details about my tank.
5' waterbox aquarium purchased new in November 2019
4 MP 40s - all new - purchased 2 in November and 2 last week. I've never cleaned these besides toothbrush and water (no vinegar)
New Nyos Skimmer
New Vortech and Cor 20 return pumps
Stock PVC piping from Waterbox.
I have a few small pieces of PVC on my Vortech (I read PVC can leach Sn)
100 pounds of man made Real Reef Rock (maybe the source?)
2 bags Carib Sea sand - the sand was in the tank when I ran the ICP, but I just removed the land last weekend so I'm bare bottom again.
I have the Tiger Shark cleaner magnet. I do keep this in the tank 100% of the time. I thought maybe it's rusting but when I just washed it in the sink I do not see any rust..
2 new 300 watt titanium heaters- these are about 6 month old
That is all of the equipment. I'm not dosing anything other than ReefRoids and Neophos/Neonitrate occasionally.
One interesting point is my DKH was raising about .2 DKH every day up until I removed all of my Carib Sea sand. Now that the sand is gone, I've gone 5 days without a DKH rise.
Where do I go from here? New test? Replace heaters? Do nothing?
My tank is full of fish and they are all fine. My sticks are about 1 month old. They are still alive, but not really growing. Colors are a bit dull but the polyps are still out. No other coral in tank.
