ICP Test results. Nickel and vanadium are drastically elevated

Hello!

I finally got my ICP test results and I am trying to figure out why I can't keep some corals (SPS or LPS). I've controlled my pH issues and did not know what else to do... I am just an IT guy. I do not understand what some of the elements are .

I do have black sand. Amd all my invert die. The test of the rodi water had undetectable levels of the testable metals.

I do. All my inverts die and I had no explanation. The rodi water did not have any detectable metals in it.

Check for any metal parts in the water. As mentioned, the sand may also be a concern.

Thanks. I habe no metal parts other thn the pumps and they are in good condition. I was wondering why I could keep HERMITS alive! Ive bought 300 of them since April and I have none alive. I gave up.

I was able to remove 99.9% of the sand. Do you think the tank will ever recover or do rocks absorbed the metals too?

I am doing eater changes and hope to get another icp test after several WCs.

I would run cuprisorb for a while then do a large wc, then try a few inverts you couldn’t keep alive. Good luck.

If you got the sand out it will probably be okay after a few more water changes.

I mean a weekly 10% type of water change.

My tank returned to near normal levels and I still have a small amount of black sand here and there. It took a couple of months of weekly water changes to deplete the residual metals though.

I think you can adequately strip the water of metals, even with some absorbing onto surfaces.
