A good friend just sent in a water sample from the Maledives to Fauna Marin.

Most particular was dkh at 6.6. Nitrates were also surprising. Admittedly, despite living on the coast I've never checked or concerned myself with any parameters in the Atlantic. Other than salinity. That is because I use water from just north St. Augustine FL as a reference solution for my refractometer.

Ocean nitrate is typically quite low, and that is the typical alk for ocean water. Reefers often round that up to 7 dKH, but it’s not.
