Good afternoon,

I just received my water analysis results but not really understanding everything. Just wondering if something is out of range. A few months ago I had all my LPS die after having them for almost a year. All soft corals are doing great and multiplying. I was thinking maybe something in the water chemistry killed them.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm new, but am a chemist and have been going through ICP data for a couple of months. Your calcium is too high (try to get down to 440 ppm). You'll begin getting precipitation if you raise your alkalinity (what's your current alkalinity?). Also, your phosphorous levels are really high. The phosphate (PO4) levels will be three times higher (since PO4 weighs 3x of P), so you're looking at 5 ppm phosphate. The recommended phosphate levels are ~0.03 ppm. I would check your nitrates if your phosphates are this high. I would recommend some water changes and GFO to help reduce phophates. Iodine is a bit low too - this can be replenished with water changes.

Thank you. I’ll have to check my alkalinity when I get home. I do use GFO but I guess I’m not using enough.
