Hi all,

I recently brought home a blue hippo, and yesterday I’m noticing a few oddities.

I can’t tell if this is the start of the Ich cycle or if it’s food/debris caught in his fin. It looks a little large to be Ich, but I know that they are prone to Ich so I’m freaking out.

Also, noticed a bit of discoloration in his upper black stripe

Any help would be much appreciated. I’ve never had this happen, so I’ll be looking for treatment solutions that are kind to the rest of Fish and reef too

Agree, if you can get clear up close pics it may be easier to diagnose. I know hippos are tough to photograph. But i would definitely move him to a qt tank. It almost looks like the discoloration may be HLLE.
