ID and Is it Safe?

So I was looking at my Torch coral that isn't doing so good and noticed this little crab that I have no idea how it made its way into my tank! I assume it was a hitchhiker on the LR? I've had my JBJ45 for about 4 months and have never seen this guy until today.

Any idea if he is reef safe? or What kind of crab it is?

hard to tell by the picture what he is because it is all dark. What color are the end of his claws will help a little and what color is he?

He looks purple and his legs are striped clear/purple with purple claws.

if in doubt ...get it out.....cant really tell from the photo, but since it is on a dead area of the frogspawn/anchor I would not hesitate to remove it.

Black mithrax crab, have one in my fuge.

Seems harmless, but would remove if he's pestering your Euphylla.

Mine came in as a hitch hiker as well.

I would definitely try to remove it since it's on a torch coral that's looking like it's being pestered/eaten...

There are symbiotic coral crabs out there. But I'm not sure either. If the coral is ticked off you should probably remove it

Well, I found his hiding spot in between a couple of the LR. I just can't believe I haven't seen him until now. I have a JBJ 45 gallon tank so it's not a huge tank where he would get lost. I'll try to get a better picture of him, but he looks to be stripped in color.

Saw the guy on the torch coral again and quickly scooped him out! He's been banished to my sump. Steelheader thanks for helping identify him. ...now that he's in my fuge...do I need to feed him anything?

I have 2 clowns in my fuge so im sure he get the food they dont eat.
