Long story short, my little holding tank has been overrun with what i believe is a type of calurpa algae. Not sure with sp. though.

I have a new tank coming in the next month or 2 and would like to transfer over my coral from this tank. I will remove and scrub off as much as i can but im sure some will inevatebly make its way into the new DT.

So, anything eat this stuff?

Tangs love it from what i hear. What size will your DT be?

Sorry, should have posted that!

It'll be about 130 gallons. 48x30x20. So I'm limited to bristletooth tangs, and plan on getting a tomini. Maybe a lawnmower or starry Blenny as well

It does not look like Caulerpa sp, to me. I think it is Halophyla ovalis, spon sea grass, good for consuming nutrients:

Are you in Australia?

Best regards
Definitely not this, leaves are too large and mine grow on a vine type structure.

I dont think its caulerpa sp, when i said sp i meant species lol From some googling it looks like Caulerpa brachypus

Well ... you're watching closely, yes, it can be.

If it is Caulerpa sp, it may be sensitive to fluconazole, but it would be interesting to prune well before applying the medication, because Caulerpales may be toxic to corals.

Best regards

I tried fluconazole and it did nothing for me here, and yes it will for sure be pruned, im only concerned about the stuff that makes it into the new DT when i transfer corals, All the rock in my current tank will NOT be brought over.

And no, not an aussie, i like in minnesota lol

I think it is Caulerpa prolifera. Manuel removal will probably the best step IME.
Like i said in the main post, I am only bringing over the coral from that tank to the new DT. So i will be removing everything i can that is attached to the coral but was curious if there were any predators that would keep it down assuming some makes it into the new tank.
