ID and state of these corals?

Hello all,

I was wondering if the community could help me get some Latin names for the corals pictured. I also wonder what you think of their state, I think the Xenia isn't happy. But unsure of the rest (I see some white tips on some).

You will see trade names used a lot more than Latin names due to how many variants there are.
The first two are Yuma (ricordea) mushroom corals.
Pic 3 is Xenia elongata - commonly called pulsing Xenia.
4 is a zoa…that’s really as good as you can get.
Galaxea scientific name is Galaxea fascicularis

Thanks for these! I think genus for the Zoa is probably Zoanthus.

for the most part, yes. a bit pale, however. could just be due to only having your whites on.

I agree, all look good. The Xenia looks a little sad, but softies like to do that and it should perk up fast.

Put those xenia on their own rock and be prepared to cut them back often. They will take off and chock out other corals in a heartbeat.

Xenia can be trimmed with a sharp pair of scissors and the frags put into a little container with some rock rubble or calcium reactor media. They will heal up and attach to that media. From there you can trade in at LFS to get a little store credit for something else.

The guys at Emerald Bay, 7 Seas and Aquatic Critter will take it for their cheap frag tanks and give you a little credit for it when you bring it in. Best to call first though, as sometimes they may not take it due to having some already.

I’ll just pull off the extra ones when they get where I don’t want them. A razor can be used to pop them off easier. Harmless to the rest of the tank or Xenia.
