ID and tips please

and also the BTA doesn't look too bad at the moment but if it doesn't get enough light, over time the zooxanthellae will eventually die as will the anemone. Adding another Marineland still may not be enough for a BTA and other corals (LSP and SPS). and Im not sure what you are paying for those Marineland fixtures. My local fish store has them marked down to 50% off because they cant get rid of them. The Reefbreeders units look like a lot more bang for the buck IMO.

The strip I am adding today is a 4ft fixture of 1W cree LED's.

The LFS uses 2 of the 3ft fixtures over his anemone tank, so 1 of them in addition to what I have now should work well

Show some pics, the cree's are great LED's I have 36 of the 3w cree's over my 55gal, only can run 24 of them though since theyre so darn strong. I'm not sure about their 1w LED's though.

I don't mind spending money as long as I can convince myself it is justified. I know I need better lighting, but I can't just toss asside $900 in Marineland fixtures. I'm trying to convince myself to start a tank like a 55 gallon for a zoo garden and use one of the marine land fixtures on it lol

I'll throw up a picture once I get the strip installed, I'll be picking it up tonight.

The reefbreeder suggestion was a good one. I can't believe marineland is charging so much for those strips.

They are well made units, the construction is top notch. They dissipate heat well with the heatsync's on the top. The built in timer is nice, and you can customize the on / off times for white and blue. They could bring them up to date with cree LED's and the ability to control the power level of the light, they would be a strong contender in the market if so.

But yes, they are weak for the price.

Ok so I picked up a 4 ft. LED fixture, it is 24x3w. I will run that for a few hours a day on top of the marineland fixtures. I also got some frozen silversides to feed the anemone. I broke a piece off, was a piece of a head, placed it on the tentacles and it took it right away, couldnt see it anymore within 10 seconds, but didnt eat any more than that. Hermits came running to steal leftovers. I will feed again in 3 days to make sure it is well fed and happy.

I appreciate the help so far, I will upload another photo tonight or tomorrow

Personally, I would pass on the silversides. Myself and other experienced anemone keepers have had issues with them -- I lost an otherwise healthy H. malu after feeding it a silverside.

I haven't directly fed my anemones (( E. quadricolor, S. haddoni and M. doreensis )) in about a year, but when I do, I use frozen (( thawed )) krill.

This is roughly day 10 or so, still in the same spot. Not sure how it's doing but it is still attached so I will continue to monitor it.

Ahh I see, thanks. I am testing a few different things to see what it takes.

Ive had my RBTA for about a year now and I don't feed it. I did try feeding it once and It did not seem happy.
