These are almost surrounded by tiny purple clove polyps, will they prevent them from spreading?

I couldn't make out the clove polyps in the pic. If you do indeed have blue (purple) clove polyps you might wanna chuck the rock or start treatment immediately. BCP are a nightmare you don't want to deal with as they will grow unchecked and choke out every last thing in your aquarium.

Heres the best picture I could get as they are tiny. At night they appear as tiny black dots, they are not on a mat or anything.

Yeah, blue clove polyps. What nightmare. I'd check out the thread I posted above and see if you want to go that route (the meds are reef safe with the exception of leathers, gorgonians, GSP, and then some snails are affected). Unfortunately those little buggers spread like wildfire.

Bought the setup used and didnt even notice them, they are on about 75% of the rocks in one small patch or another. Problem is I have a couple rocks of pulsing xenia that my wife loves.. a rock of gsp and a leather I dont want to lose. Reading that the chemical soaks into the rocks and can leach out for months is that correct?

That's correct. It's not the absolute end of the world to have them in there. But you do need to be aware if you're trading with other reefers or looking to add stuff to the tank.
