Hey y’all,

Years ago the tank had a significant mojano problem, but we haven’t seen any for a very long time. We noticed these tiny green spring-ups on a couple rocks. It’s been a long while since I saw mojano and they don’t look like it to me. But the PTSD is strong and we fear it may be this.

whats everyone’s thoughts? Mojano? Rock nem? Feather duster?

The pictures are a bit blurry, but they look more like protopalythoa to me.

Looks like nuclear green palythoa.

Give that a search on google and compare.

Definitely looks like nuclear green palythoa, but I haven’t added anything to the tank in years and can’t figure out where they would be coming from?

I had some pop up on rock that was sitting in the garage from a tank tear down. The rock was sitting dry for over 2 years lol. Not sure how anything lived, but they did. I nuked them with kalk paste and they havent been back since.

Any reason you opted to nuke them? Are palythoas harmful or can Inlet them thrive?

Those particular ones spread like wildfire. If you like them, cool. But I have much prettier ones I wanted to take over the rock they popped up on lol.

Palys are hard to kill and grow very easily. They can also sometimes be toxic when killed, which means fragging them or trimming them back in the tank can be dangerous. Not for everyone. If they stay on that one rock shouldn't be a problem as you can take that out to scrape some off or frag if you must.
