Looks to be an LPS, which one I can not say for sure. Did that person actually mean the coral had the potential to kill other near by corals?

Yea, looks like a good coral to me also. Although what kind is a good question. Someone will be around in the AM to give you a positive ID.

They said when they get bigger they produce a toxin that will kill other corals.

Looks like some kind of Favia to me. Which the only problem with them is they can have sweepers, which could sting other corals, but other then that they are fine in a reef aquarium.

I had someone else tell me favia also. He does have sweepers. I don't think it is a pectina they look like they are a little more bony. This guy is mostly flesh.

Not poisionous though.

What i first thought when i saw the flesh texture. I have a plating and a spiny type. Other than sweepers, not as long as space invader, no issues. No light like all chalices.

The frag is small and does look like it could be any of the suggestions. When it gets bigger and more distinguished looking it may easier to say what coral it is. I have not heard of a coral that secretes a poison. If there is one like that i do not think it would be in the market. It is a lps of some type and most all have sweeper tentacle. Some more deadly and longer than other corals. My galaxy coral has ones that get over 10" from coral, yours is not a galaxy. My plating pectinia has much more of them than my spiny pectinia. Just allow about at least 4" between it and another coral.
