This was on my Gulf live rock .I found it about a week ago . It looked like a plant it was the shaoe of a fan or mermaids tail amd appeared to be comming out of the rock. Well it opened and now looks to me to be some kind of mushroom .. I know the pic isn't good at all but was hoping it may be familiar to some one. Thanks

It's the size of a quarter

Ok thanks for taking a look see. I'll get them tomorrow after the blue lights go to sunlight. I'm new to marine/reef keeping. So even the lights are still a challenge. I didn't plan on getting corals until a year or so was waiting for a really mature tank. But would like to get an ID and maybe some care instructions.

You don't have to wait a year for corals but is good to start slow. I look forward to photos under whites to see what you have.

Got really busy today .i will get a better shot for sure tomorrow. Here it is when I went to get a shot today. The back half of it was folded up maybe closing ? This is the back half folded forward .. Tomorrow I'll get a shot with just white lights. Maybe a type of anemone ? I really don't have a clue.

Looks like a big white tongue in the center sticking out. Just a description. Like I said. I have no clue what it is

Florida live rock says to me maybe an unhappy rock flower anemone. My understanding is the shallow water ones are typically brown and or green. And they look similar to a mushroom coral.

Ok cool .I looked them up kind of looks like one some what the long white mouth tongue whatever is throwing me off. What do you mean unhappy ?

Its kind of tan green dark brownish to maroon maybe in spots.

The white part may be its mouth and insides. When anemones are unhappy they are known to turn their digestive track inside out. If it was recently shipped it may still be acclimating. Give it time and see if it goes away.

Got ya thanks. Thursday will be a month that ibe had the live rock. I only noticed this oh maybe a little over a week or so ago.

Wrath. I just went to get a pick .I was trying to get the rock closer and it didn't like that.. It retracted into a small hole that was under it. Right when I was looking at it. I never seen it do that before. Crazy man crazy
