What type of photosythetic gorgonian is this? Help is welcome.

not sure what can be that SP, can't find particular one under the name "grube", it look more like someone who frag different SP of gorgonians, as I see and purplish grube's gorgonian. Still not sure, and few I saw under that name wasn't upward growing like your one

Yeah I can't see the polyps very well? Do you have a picture with good polyp extension? Or at least a better zoom?

And if that is good polyp extension then it is not a Grube's. Grube's are not fuzzy. I'm going to go with a Eunicea sp. which are colloquially called knobby sea rods. It just seems to fit the characteristics from that picture. Might change if we get a closer shot.

Flampton I see what you are saying. That was very helpful it does seem to be a knobby sea rod. However I am not sure here is a better picture with a nickel for reference.

Perhaps a Muricea species? Do you know where the coral was sourced? I was thinking Muricea laxa on first glance.
