ID for white spot above pelvic fin

I need an ID on this emperor angel, there is a white spot just above the left pelvic fin. I was told flukes but i don’t believe so because I performed a 3 min fresh water dip with no improvement

Sorry for the delay, I missed your post and just saw it now.

The spot above the pelvic fin isn't a fluke, it looks like it is either a fungal or bacterial plaque. How long has it had it? What I see that concerns me more is the general blotchy coloration of the fish's body and slight cloudiness to the pectoral fins - THAT indicates flukes to me. Emperor angels get Neobenedenia flukes pretty often, a 3 minute FW dip isn't going to dislodge those, you need to go for a full five minutes and then check the bottom of the dip container for things that look like scales falling off...and that isn't a treatment, just a diagnostic tool.

The fish just shown the plaque today. Ive had him since Wednesday. He is an active swimmer and is eating frozen food. He wasn’t quarantined because the store I received him from treats all there fish before they come in, clearly not well enough lol So what do you recommend for a course of treatment for this fish? I do have a quarantine set up if i need to remove him from the display.

Ok i will do that, I will remove the fish and dip it. Then quarantine it with copper and antibiotics. Is something like Furan-2 from api a good antibiotic? Thats what i have on hand.

So i cant get the fish out, and i dont want to stress the fish out mor by chasing him around with a net. Th spotting on the fish has significantly reduced, but that large plaque is still there. Since this fish eats well, how do you feel about feeding him “homemade” medicated fish food with the furan-2 that is garlic infused?

The trouble is that there is really no way to get the proper dose with antibiotics mixed in food like that. Also, Furan-2 has nitrofurazone and methylene blue in it, neither of which are oral medications, and could well be toxic.

If you want to try oral antibiotics, I would suggest Kanaplex and Focus mixed with some food. Kanamycin is good dosed orally and has a wide margin of error, so overdosing is less likely.

I appreciate all of your help. I got the fish out it is now in quarantine. Nothing produced from the dip. So i will treat him with copper and the furan
