Any thoughts? It wiped off easily but has definitely been growing over the last few days. There was a wound nearby on the bottom of the gill plate. I treated with kanaplex for infection as that wound was worsening. Fast forward to today and the wound is gone but now this. Fish eats like a pig and is still in QT so trying to get any and all diseases, infections, parasites, etc out of the way obviously before headed to the DT.

Very typical on angels referred to as cauliflower is a viral lymphocystis. It is often triggered by poor water quality (elevated ammonia, nitrates) and/or diet.
Assuming fish is eating, . . . . .
What test kits are you using
What foods are you feeding ?

That makes since as water quality might not be great. Doing a big wc tonight. I’ve been feeding a lot trying to fatten up the QT fish as much as possible. I’ve only been monitoring ammonia with one of those seachem ammonia alert jobs that suctions to the glass. As far as food I’ve been feedin a plethora that includes but not limited to. Frozen mysis, frozen angel/butterfly formula (with sponges) rods food (original) new life spectrum pellets, green, red, purple nori, clams on the half shell, generic flake food, generic pellet food. He literally eats all of it but doesn’t pay a bunch of attention to the nori.

It looks like Lymphocytis - it is caused by a virus and this species is very prone to it. Don’t try to remove the growths, that just spreads the virus. It will go away on its own in 6 to 10 weeks.

Overfeeding will impact water quality- A fat fish does nothing in terms of health status- simply keep it fed.
I suggest to cat back a little on food. Youve invested in a beautiful fish - Please owe it to yourself to get a reliable test kit(s). Ammonia badge in straight terms are as useless as API test kits and offer false readings/results and badge also intended for FW use.
You likely have a higher ammonia reading than badge is indicating. I highly suggest taking a water sample to a trusted LFS that Does NOT use API kits for testing and have them test your water and see what results they come up with.

Ive got Hanna checkers for alk, calc, and P04 but I’ll be honest I haven’t really checked nitrates, trites or ammonia in 20 years lol I’ve always had very established reefs. I put the ammonia thing in there as a safe gaurd on this one since it’s a qt tank but still used plenty of established media. There is a pretty large fuge plumbed into the QT tank too.
